There is palpable tension at Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, (OSBC), Oke Baale, Osogbo, over the reported cases of the coronavirus among the staff of the organisation.
A source from OSBC who spoke under the condition of anonymity said that three staff of the corporation and a driver tested positive for Covid-19.
Our source has appeal to the State Government to conduct Covid-19 test for all the staff of the organisation in order to contain the spread of the pandemic in the state.
According to the source, “There’s the need to conduct the test for all staff especially those who might have come in contact with the affected officials in their offices and homes.
“One of our staff Folakemi Aloge died recently of alleged Covid-19 complications.
“There’s the need to urgently fumigate OSBC premises.
“The station is infected with the virus and there is the need to protect the staff.
While reacting , the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, said he can’t ascertain the identity of those who tested positive.
“I don’t know the identity of those who have tested positive, what we do is that we ask our officials to take samples and anybody that tested positive will be contacted.
“Those that we believe can successfully isolate themselves at home we allow them to stay at home.
“Those that can’t successfully self isolate we will bring them to our isolation centres. So I don’t know who have tested positive.
“The ethics of my profession will not allow me to disclose those who tested positive.
“We do contact tracing whenever we have positive cases, we advise, we go there to sensitize them and that is what we have been doing.
He however, advised the residents of the State to always adhere strictly to COVID-19 preventive measures so as to curb the spread of the virus in the state.
“My advice for the people of Osun is to cooperate with us, and support the state government by always abiding to the Covid-19 protocols and guidelines which includes washing of hands and the regular use of face mask.
