Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has categorically ruled out selling Jadon Sancho to Manchester United in this transfer window because he feels he has a “certain responsibility” to the club.
United made Sancho their number one target at the start of the summer but they have failed to convince Dortmund to lower their valuation.

The German club slapped a £108million price tag on the 20-year-old and have refused to budge from that figure.

That has led United into searching for alternative targets but they have not given up hope of signing the England international.

However, Kehl insists Sancho will remain with Dortmund for the upcoming 2020/21 campaign regardless of if United can muster up the fee.

“He [Jadon Sancho] is our player, and he will stay,” said Kehl. “It was an important statement from the club because we have a certain responsibility. Without Jadon this team is weaker.”

McAteer went on to highlight exactly where he feels United need improvements.

“I really worry for Manchester United in defence,” he added. “They are all susceptible to giving away opportunities – I am not a big fan of Harry Maguire.

“He hasn’t properly settled in Manchester, I’m not sure if it comes down to not having a confident partner next to him, his partnership with Victor Lindelof still looks a little weak, or not having a left-back who is consistently in the team each week that he can trust.

“I feel like any team coming up against them will feel like they have a chance due to their defensive frailties and their lack of a good enough central defensive midfielder.

“There are problems in those areas and that is where they need to strengthen the most.”
